The Plan

•  In November of 2017, THINC Whidbey purchased a 1/3-acre lot with an existing house.

               In December 0f 2017 we were gifted the adjoining 60 Ft lot.

• The existing house is an affordable-living rental on the top floor.

• The lower floor will be used as an office, meeting space, and the community center.

• 9 tiny homes will be built on the remaining  property.

• Each house is 264 square-feet.

• The cost of building each house is approximately $34,000. 

• Each tiny home will contain a kitchen/ LR combination, bathroom, and bedroom.

• Individuals, businesses, organizations and churches are invited to donate a house, and the house can be named after the donor.

• The units will be rented on a sliding scale.

• Referrals will come from Island County Housing Support Center and other local help agencies. 

• Tenants are required to get a background check, be a current resident of 

               South Whidbey, have 3 local references and proof of low income status.

• Social gatherings and monthly meetings will foster a sense of community. 

• Lease agreements will be re-evaluated at the end of each year to ensure qualifications are still met. 

• Income from the property will be used to pay utilities, taxes, insurance, and maintenance expenses.
